Official curriculum and assessment
To start WACE Religion and Life revision, open the 2025 marking key (PDF). Use the official resources below to choose a task, attempt it independently and check your response against the available assessment guidance. The practice sequence below explains how to turn that review into a focused next attempt. Confirm the paper’s course and syllabus year before using it.
How to practise this subject
These practice suggestions are editorial guidance from Australian Study Resources.
- Open the 2025 Written examination, Section One Q1(a)-(d). Task focus — Using box-office data for two religious films, constructs an argument about their relative success, suggests a reason for their contrasting takings, evaluates a source's usefulness for gauging a society's religious commitment, and outlines the purpose of a second source. Attempt it before consulting the marking guidance, then identify the evidence or working that supports your answer.
- Open the 2025 Written examination, Section One Q1(e)-(f). Task focus — Outlines two factors that shaped how a film director (the significant religious person for this source set) interacted with religion, then analyses the interplay between his life, context and religion using at least two sources. Attempt it before consulting the marking guidance, then identify the evidence or working that supports your answer.
- Open the 2025 Written examination, Section One Q2. Task focus — Distinguishes 'conversion' from 'religious switching', draws a conclusion about global switching patterns, suggests reasons for differing switching rates between two named faiths, evaluates the reliability of the switching data, identifies and justifies an outlier in a linked data set, and predicts how changing religious affiliation could affect religion's influence in society. Attempt it before consulting the marking guidance, then identify the evidence or working that supports your answer.
- Record the specific point you missed, write a corrected response, and attempt another question that requires the same skill. Check older material against your current course before reusing it.
Plan your next practice session
Choose one response from your practice sequence. Identify its main claim, underline the evidence and explain how that evidence answers the question. Revise any claim that is broader than its support.
