To start HSC Music 1 revision, open the 2025 Aural Skills question paper. The practice sequence below explains how to turn that review into a focused next attempt. Confirm the paper’s course and syllabus year before using it.

How to practise this subject

These practice suggestions are editorial guidance from Australian Study Resources.

  1. Listen to a short excerpt twice. Describe a rhythmic feature with a specific musical example, then explain its effect.
  2. Identify a pitch feature in the excerpt, such as a melodic contour or relationship between parts. Support the description with a clear reference to what you hear.
  3. Describe a change in dynamics or expressive technique. Explain how it interacts with another musical concept to shape the passage.
  4. Record the specific point you missed, write a corrected response, and attempt another question that requires the same skill. Check older material against your current course before reusing it.

Plan your next practice session

Choose a practical task or example from your course. Record one criterion, compare two approaches and document what changed after a trial. Use the same criterion to review the revision.
