Official curriculum and assessment
To start QCE Music revision, open the 2025 Question and response book. Use the official resources below to choose a task, attempt it independently and check your response against the available assessment guidance. The practice sequence below explains how to turn that review into a focused next attempt. Confirm the paper’s course and syllabus year before using it.

How to practise this subject
These practice suggestions are editorial guidance from Australian Study Resources.
- Open the 2025 External assessment, Q1. Task focus — Analyse and evaluate how the composer of the closing song of an autobiographical rock musical manipulates music elements and concepts in two specified key moments (given as bar ranges and time codes) to provoke thought about change, justifying judgments with examples from each moment. Attempt it before consulting the marking guidance, then identify the evidence or working that supports your answer.
- Open the 2024 External assessment, Q1. Task focus — Choose one of three stimuli (a work for didgeridoo and orchestra by a Kalkadunga composer, a solo piano elegy performed on the Arctic Ocean, an opening number from a musical film) and two key moments; analyse and evaluate how the composer manipulates multiple music elements and concepts to reflect the title. Attempt it before consulting the marking guidance, then identify the evidence or working that supports your answer.
- Record the specific point you missed, write a corrected response, and attempt another question that requires the same skill. Check older material against your current course before reusing it.
Plan your next practice session
Choose a practical task or example from your course. Record one criterion, compare two approaches and document what changed after a trial. Use the same criterion to review the revision.
