Official curriculum and assessment

To start QCE Visual Art revision, open the 2025 Question and response book. Use the official resources below to choose a task, attempt it independently and check your response against the available assessment guidance. The practice sequence below explains how to turn that review into a focused next attempt. Confirm the paper’s course and syllabus year before using it.

How to practise this subject

These practice suggestions are editorial guidance from Australian Study Resources.

  1. Choose an artwork and describe a specific visual feature. Explain how material, technique or composition contributes to its meaning.
  2. Connect the work to relevant context using evidence. Distinguish your interpretation from facts about its production.
  3. Review a practical experiment against your artistic intention. Record what the result demonstrates and how it informs the next experiment.
  4. Record the specific point you missed, write a corrected response, and attempt another question that requires the same skill. Check older material against your current course before reusing it.

Plan your next practice session

Choose a practical task or example from your course. Record one criterion, compare two approaches and document what changed after a trial. Use the same criterion to review the revision.
